Freelance Writer/Editor, March 1988 – Present:
More than 400 of my articles and essays have appeared in a wide
variety of publications. Please see my Articles page for a list of
clients.

Director of Communications, Mars Hill College, Mars Hill, N.C.
June 1998 – July 2004
Classified as a Senior Administrator of the college. Responsible
for writing, editing and producing key campus publications
including two annual alumni magazines and an annual president’
s report. Utilized Pagemaker 7.0 and Photoshop 7.0 in creation of
these publications. Secured printer bids and maintained
departmental budget. Responsible for placing all college
advertising, and preparing copy/design. Wrote and distributed all
key campus news releases. Acted as liaison for Mars Hill College
with local media. Served as campus photographer – experienced
with 35 mm photography, digital photography. Served as content
consultant for campus Web site. Produced weekly in-house
newsletter, The Announcer.

News Producer, WLOS-TV, Asheville, N.C.
September 1988 - May 1998
I spent nearly 10 years as a News Producer at WLOS-TV (ABC
affiliate). I demonstrated excellent time- management/ deadline-
meeting skills, superb writing, detailed organization, strong news
judgment and great flexibility to deal with last minute changes and
breaking news stories. Responsibilities included deciding content
for newscast, writing news stories and teases, and editing
reporters and anchor news copy.
